Physical Activity: How to Get Kids Moving |
|
In the winter being active can be more challenging,
but it can still be done. Here are a few ideas to keep your child
moving: |
|
- For every half hour of television, they can spend a half hour
outside. Just being outside leads to increased physical activity.
- Put some fun music on and have a contest for who can invent
the craziest dance.
- Take a ball to the park and join a friend.
- Go for a bike ride as a family.
|
|
Even homework doesn't have to be totally
inactive: |
|
- When quizzing your child for a spelling test, have them do something
physical between each word (e.g. run into the next room, hop on
one foot three times and run back).
- Take a break between homework subjects and shoot a few baskets
or walk around the block.
