Nutrition Materials for High School

Activity & Eating

Help your high school students understand the essential connection between being physically active, making healthful food choices and maintaining long-term good health. A PowerPoint presentation and accompanying script will help you walk high school students through the eight-page Activity & Eating workbook.

The workbook was created using a behavior-change model that encourages healthy-eating behaviors and attitudes in your students. Students apply problem-solving, reasoning and critical-thinking techniques to their own individual habits and set goals for improvement.

Activity & Eating provides high school students with the essential nutrition concepts about:

  • Identifying hunger cues
  • Making small changes to maintain a healthy weight
  • Learning the importance of breakfast for a healthy weight and energy
  • Choosing healthy meals and snacks when rushed or dining out
  • Using hand symbols to eat appropriate serving sizes
  • Categorizing foods into food groups to choose the recommended amount of nutrient-rich foods
  • How physical activity boosts heart rate, builds muscle and bones

Teachers successfully implement Activity & Eating in a variety of high school subjects like Science, English, Health and Physical Education.

These curriculums, brought to you by Dairy Council of California, align with the "2010 Dietary Guidelines for Americans."

Great tool! Have been using handouts for years when I do health screenings with our students. I would also like portion/serving size included in the booklet. Thank you.

The information is age appropriate. I enjoyed learning about nutrition while my students were learning helpful hints on healthy choices.
