Mobile Dairy Classroom
 Four
Mobile Dairy Classrooms visit California urban public elementary
schools presenting an exciting, interactive lesson! Approximately
350 students can attend each 35 - 45 minute lesson.
Designed to
enhance curriculum at both levels:
K-3:
Primary students learn new vocabulary, life cycles and anatomy concepts,
and follow milk from cow to container.
4-6:
Intermediate students discover the ruminant digestive system, lactation
cycle, agriculture technology, and trace milk through processing.
Both lessons include agriculture's
contribution to the food supply, the nutritional value of dairy
products, and how they compliment other foods to create a healthy
diet.
The Mobile Dairy Classroom began in
the 1930's visiting schools in the Los Angeles area. The program
represents the dairy industry's long-term commitment to provide
quality educational programs to California's school children.
Dairy Council of California schedules
schools by district on a four
to six year rotating basis. Schools must be within a reasonable
travel distance from a cooperating dairy to participate in the program.
