Lesson Summary:
This lesson explores the origins of Louisiana Gumbo, which unites several diverse cultures. It can be integrated into Social Studies units and studying French migration to the United States and American Indians. Five different lessons and extension activities are included.
Learning Objectives::
Students will be able to describe how different cultures combined to create a new identity in America.Students will be able to identify orgins of ingredients and ethnic groups that contribute to Gumbo. Students will be able to cook Gumbo following a recipe.
