Lesson Summary:
This 3-4 day lesson, which connects to history/social science, language arts, and mathematics, explores a common ethnic food base, the tortilla, that is used in many different Mexican recipes. Students learn how to cook tortillas from scratch and learn about the history of this food staple.
Learning Objectives::
1. Students learn that healthy foods or meals CAN taste delicious.
2. Students learn about a food that represents the Hispanic culture.
3. Students experience positive social, psychological and nutritional benefits when eating with family and friends.
