Meet staff member, Steve Miller. For the past 20 years, Steve Miller has served as a Mobile Dairy Classroom Instructor, providing educational assemblies to students, families and communities throughout Orange, San Diego and Riverside counties, as well as in the High Desert region and Long Beach Unified School District.

A strong advocate for agriculture and ag literacy, Steve teaches Mobile Dairy Classroom assemblies because he believes everyone deserves to know where their food comes from, how to eat healthfully and the important role food plays in health. He also teaches how farmers care for their animals, the environment and the foods they produce for people to consume. Steve believes that supporting positive health and health outcomes begins with teaching children how to eat healthfully and understand where their food comes, which is what drives him to do the important work he does every day.

Growing up in Imperial County, Steve was heavily influenced by his uncle—an alfalfa and cotton farmer—and Steve's own experiences working in beef feedlots. Seeing firsthand how hard farmers work to produce food sparked a passion and appreciation for agriculture’s contribution to health and inspired Steve to pursue a career that allowed him to share his passion while teaching future generations to connect with agriculture in an experiential way.

When he is not teaching Mobile Dairy Classroom assemblies, Steve serves as the beef, sheep, swine and market goat leader for the Trabuco Trailblazers’ 4-H program, volunteers at the Mission Viejo Future Farmers of America to work with students interested in marketing beef, and judges livestock shows. He also raises show lambs and helps fit cattle and sheep for showings. Steve’s passion for animal agriculture and education is deeply ingrained and something he hopes to inspire in future generations.

Steve earned a Bachelor of Science degree in agricultural science from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona.
